What a weekend!

Wow! Traveling with Malakai has been such an adventure. We left late last week headed for my Dad's house for about a week-long visit, it is usually an 8 hour drive for me. Usual isn't usual any longer! Malakai likes to eat about every 2 hours (yes, still...but, hey, he's a growing boy) so about every hour and a half in the car, he's ready to stop. I planned out our journey to stop at just about every town with a mall. I have discovered that Dillard's is the best place to visit since they almost always have a nice big restroom with a powder area supplied with chairs and and very cushy changing table. Also, I like to shop, so it's just perfect! It's much nicer to sit in an air conditioned private restroom to nurse Malakai than trying to do it it public or in the car. So, far, the trip has been a huge success!

Over the last few days, Malakai has discovered his hands, and has started using them! This development is exciting to us both! He can now hold on to a toy and reach and grab for other things too! For a while, he's been able to hang on to my finger, or my shirt, but now he's reaching with purpose and hanging on longer. He amazes me daily!! He's growing and developing so quickly; I can't believe how fast the time goes. I stop all the time, just to be in awe of him; he's a living miracle.

Month 2 Pictures

Ten Weeks

Finally, school is out for the summer! My only full time job for the next ten weeks is to nurse my baby boy and spend every second making him happy - or try to. We went yesterday for our 2 month check-up; he weighs 14 pounds! Malakai was such a trooper getting his shots, he didn't seem to be bothered much until about 9 last night when he started screaming out in pain. It was awful; possibly the most painful moment of my life. His little thigh was red and swollen and hot, and he flinched and screamed when we touched it! I panicked - racing around with the phone, trying to sooth the baby, I was sure that something was terribly wrong. Andrew called the doctor and I call a friend. We both received the same news: Tylenol, move it around, and wait. It worked! Once he had Tylenol his world was much better. This morning, I'm happy to announce that he's happy and laughing, and smiling at his cowboy toy. Whew, what a night!
