WELCOME TO THE WORLD MALAKAI ANDREW BRIDGES TAMEZ

Malakai was finaly born at 8:36pm on March 24 2009 and he wieghed 8lbs and 5oz!! It all began monday at 6:30pm as we arrived at Harris Methodist Hospital Downtown. Suzanne was scheduled for a few procedures in order to induce labor. By 6:00am the following day, labor began. It lasted for a few hours before her water was broken by our doctor, Dr. Speaks, and kept going for another four or five hours longer.By mid afternoon she reluctantly took the epidural. Finaly Suzanne was dilated enough to begin pushing and push she did! Every contraction she gave three deep pushes. By the start of her pushing till the baby was born took her only two hours! We could see his black-haired covered head the whole time. And very soon she gave birth to a beautiful baby boy! He was quickly cleaned up and administered to by the nurses there in the room with us. He never left our side, not once. It was a true blessing that we could be there for his shots and bath. Soon after we were brought up one more floor to where we'll stay for the rest of the time here. So far he's fed almost every two hours or so. and I've (Andrew, the dad) got to change his diaper at least twice so far, with many more to come! He hasn't cried for too long at any given time, and is easily soothed and calmed by the smallest and gentlest touch to his cheeks and feet. (other babies on this floor wont stop crying!) (more postings to follow! )

This was the most clear picture we've seen of his face, recently. I'd add more, but we'll see real pictures soon!!

Saturdays

Saturdays will never be the same. I woke up at 6am today, waiting for the sun to rise, waiting for the birds to chirp...waiting for my day to start. Since when am I such a morning person? I still rolled over and tried to go back to sleep, but here I am, setting a record for being up before noon on a Saturday!

Tuesday

Tuesday will be the big day! We are schedule to start being induced on Tuesday morning, so I expect a healthy baby boy by Tuesday night - wish me luck and lots of prayer!
